USAID’s Bureau for Africa, Office of Sustainable Development (AFR/SD) is seeking a dynamic Youth Advisor to lead transformative youth empowerment initiatives. The Youth Advisor will support the Africa region and work in coordination with the Agency Senior Advisor on Youth. The incumbent will provide technical input and advice to AFR staff and Agency colleagues on matters relating to the development, engagement, and needs of young people in Africa. They will provide technical leadership in agenda setting on youth empowerment efforts, policy, implementation, measurement, and reporting. They will be able to support youth integration across sectors. They will ensure compliance with USAID guidance and policy related to youth integration across the program cycle for both AFR/SD, and as applicable, for Missions in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). They will support the development and delivery of USAID youth-related training for Africa region Missions and programs. They will coordinate and provide support in one-on-one, small group, and larger group settings. This involves sharing guidance and best practices on youth empowerment and coaching/mentoring staff over the phone, via email, and in person. The Youth Advisor should have demonstrable intersectional and inclusive development skills, knowledge, and capacities to meet the needs of SSA’s diverse youth population. As needed, the Youth Advisor will provide backup support to the Senior Gender Advisor.
