Calling All African Storytellers!
Akina Mama wa Afrika (AMwA) is on the lookout for bold and transformative stories that amplify the voices of African women and girls. We are seeking narratives that explore sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) and their intersection with politics, civic space, economic justice, and climate justice.
We are particularly interested in untold, invisible, emerging, forgotten, or deliberately suppressed stories—narratives that educate, inspire, and drive change. Get Funding to Bring Your Story to Life!

Whether it's a article, podcast, video, short film, photo series, or poetry—if it’s impactful and pushes the boundaries of what we know about the interlinkages between SRHR and gender justice, we want it!

This is your chance to flip the script and reshape how the world understand gender justice issues in the selected African countries. We’re collecting bold African stories that challenge harmful narratives and bring forth the voices and lived experiences of women and girls and marginalized communities.

We are offering 10-15 storytelling grants ranging from $500 to $2,000 to support impactful storytelling in any format—articles, podcasts, videos, short films, photo series, poetry, and more. Stories that explore the interconnections between SRHR, civic space, economic justice, and climate justice will be prioritized.

Think you have what it takes but not sure you check every box? Research shows that while men apply to roles when they meet an average of 60% of the criteria, women often only apply when they meet every requirement. If you are hesitating, apply!
