Practical Action
Proposal Development for Climate Action Technical Assistance Project
Description
Practical Action is an international development organization putting ingenious ideas to work so people in poverty can change their world. We help people find solutions to some of the world’s toughest problems, challenges made worse by catastrophic climate change and persistent gender inequality. We work with communities to develop ingenious, lasting and locally owned solutions for agriculture, water and waste management, climate resilience and clean energy. And we share what works with others, so answers that start small can grow big. Practical Action seeks an experienced Proposal Development Consultant to support the preparation of a high-quality funding proposal under climate action initiatives. This consultancy is for the Technical Assistance Sub-window of the African Development Fund’s Climate Action Window, focusing on enhancing project bankability and mobilizing climate finance. Develop and implement a comprehensive bid management plan for both phases of the application process to ensure timely, organized, and high-quality submissions for the Africa Development Fund Climate Action Window Call for Proposals: Technical Assistance Sub-Window.
Key responsibilities:
• Lead the planning and coordination of all required submissions for both Phase I and Phase II of the call, including the eligibility assessment, preparation of the full proposal, and the gathering of necessary annexes in collaboration with relevant staff across all consortium partners.
• Ensure the project proposal aligns with the objectives of the selected technical assistance focus areas.
• Ensure the proposal meets the goals of the Paris Agreement, aligns with African Development Bank (AfDB) policies, strategies, and priorities, and is consistent with the national climate change frameworks of the selected countries.
• Ensure the proposal contributes to the Climate Action Window Results Framework
• Incorporate cross-cutting priorities into the project proposal, including gender equality, youth inclusion, biodiversity solutions, skills and capacity development, and disaster risk management.
• Provide technical input, content development, and high-quality writing support for the proposal and all required annexes.
• Ensure overall quality, clarity, coherence, and adherence to donor requirements throughout the full proposal document and all relevant annexes.
• Maintain a well-organized record of all drafts, revisions, and annexes to ensure efficient review and version control.
• Prepare the final version of the proposal and all supporting annexes to ensure timely submission by the deadline of 5 February 2025.
