Policy Analyst, Africa
Description
The FPF Global Privacy team is expanding its team in Africa. The policy analyst will play a key role in providing expert privacy and data protection analysis and catalyzing collaboration with industry, policy organizations, academia, and regulators. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about exploring the nuances of privacy and data protection in a rapidly evolving policy environment, is motivated to work with global and regional thinkers, and is committed to shaping best practices, standards, policies regarding privacy and data protection for both regulators and industry in Africa, and is willing to contribute to capacity building of emergent regulatory agencies across the continent.
Key Responsibilities:
• Monitor legal, policy, and regulatory developments relating to privacy, emerging technologies, and data protection throughout the African continent.
• Research and draft a wide range of documents on issues relating to privacy, data protection, and technology policy, with a special focus on cross-border data transfers. Work products may include recurring newsletter updates, briefs, and reports for FPF members, as well as training content, toolkits, and reports for regulators and other government officials.
• Engage with stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and civil society from across the African region to advance FPF’s mission.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for the Africa office, including coordinating events, webinars, panels, and other activities.
